7R to build 50,000 sq m in Katowice
Warehouse developer 7R is to build two buildings with a combined area of 49,600 sq m on the site of the former Szopenice Foundry for non-ferric metals. 7R City Park Katowice I is a brownfield project that is to be ready in Q4 2022. The two buildings will have areas of 41,100 sq m and 8,500 sq m and will be suitable for stacking goods up to height of 12m.
As well as production and warehouse space the park will include offices to meet the needs of the future tenants. Small modules will be available for lease of 1,000 – 3,200 sqm. The park will also have a green relaxation area open to all. 7R intends to certify the complex under BREEAM. In order to reduce energy usage, skylights are to be fitted in the roofs and destratifiers are to be used.
The foundry in Szopienice was founded in 1834 and was one of the largest producers of rolled copper and brass including discs, plates, strips and pipes. It eventually closed down in 2008.
The centre is just next to the junction where the S8 expressway meets national road Nr. 79. 7R has appointed Strabag as the general contractor and the handover is planned for the beginning of 2023.
