Panattoni to build 50,000 sq m BTS centre for Carrefour
Panattoni is building a BTS warehouse of 50,000 sq m in the town of Będzin in Silesia for French grocery chain Carrefour. The new logistics chain is to replace one of the chain's existing warehouses and will supply the stores in southern Poland as well as meet the demand from rapidly increasing online sales in the region.
The project has been designed to meet BREEAM certifications requirements for a rating of 'Excellent' and will include a 5,000 sq m green roof, which will keep the building cool in the summer and warm during the winter. The roof will also help reduce excess noise.
Over 13,000 sq m in the building will be occupied by technically advanced cool rooms with four separate temperature zones. The cool rooms will have a clear height of 10.5m, while the rest of the building will have a height of 13m. The development is being built 7 km north of the centre of Sosnowiec and is just 10 km from Katowice. It is also just under 20 km from Bytom and Chorzów. Easy access to the A1 motorway is provided by the S1 expressway nearby and the centre is 20 km away from the future extension of the A4 motorway, which will allow travel to Kraków in around 1,5 hours. The centre is under an hour's drive from the Czech border and 20 km from the international airport in Katowice.
The warehouse will be the third BTS project to be completed for Carrefour by Panattoni since the developer has already completed a 36,000 sq m centre in Bydgoszcz and a 63,600 sq m centre in Rawa Mazowiecka.
