The European Logistics Investment (ELI) investment platform together with industrial property developer Panattoni has begun constructing a warehouse park in the town of Tychy. Eventually, the centre will comprise 100,000 sq m GLA.
The park will include two buildings, the first of which will have 58,000 sq m of warehousing space as well as 2,500 sq m of offices. The building has already been leased out as a BTS development. The second building will comprise 37,000 sq m with a further 2,900 sq m of offices. The entire project should be completed in the third quarter of this year.
Solar collectors are to be used to heat the water, rainwater is to be collected, and the centre is to include electric vehicle charging stations. Particular attention was paid to planning the green areas on the site, so the project has been awarded a BREEAM certificate with a rating of ‘Excellent’.
The site has easy access to the A4 and A1 roads as well as to the S1 expressway. Tychy also has easy access to three international airports in Katowice, Kraków and Ostrava. The town is also home to a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles factory, which recently began a new project for the development of its Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands.
ELI has a portfolio of 23 logistics projects (with 42 buildings) in Poland’s most important regions for logistics operations. These include in Upper Silesia, Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław and Kraków.
