Auchan enters GLP Lędziny
Grocery retailer Auchan Retail Polska has leased 54,000 sq m of warehouse space in the GLP Lędziny logistics and production centre in Silesia. The lease term is ten years. The construction of the warehouse centre is the first stage in the previously- announced modernisation of Auchan’s warehouse and logistics infrastructure. The company intends to update its technology and place its new centres in the most optimal locations. The project is also part of the preparations for the company’s rapid development of its new Easy Auchan brand of convenience stores. The warehouse will have a height of 12m while the picking section is to have a depth of 24m. The building will have a greater number of skylights than the norm to limit the use of artificial lighting and the roof is also to be reinforced so that solar panelling may be fitted. Also, around the building, there will be electric vehicle charging stations. The building is to be certified under BREEAM for a rating of ‘Very Good’ and the construction work is to be completed in two stages by the end of Q1 2022. In April 2021, GLP announced the signing of the first lease for space within the centre. The contract was signed with Eurotherm Poland, a Schneider Electric Group subsidiary that supplies measurement and control devices as well as power regulators to customers throughout the world. Eventually with sufficient demand, the park could reach a full build out area of 110,000 sq m.
