Hillwood constructing logistics centre in Upper Silesia
Hillwood has begun building a logistics centre in the town of Piekary Śląskie near Bytom. A warehouse building of 42,500 sqm gla is to be handed over in the final quarter of the year. The developer has already announced this year that it is building two other logistics centres in the Silesia region: in the Sośnica district of Gliwice and in the Katowice satellite town of Mysłowice. Hillwood Piekary Śląskie will be an A class warehouse centre. The single building will be suitable both for warehousing and light production and will have a clearance height of 10m. It is being built next to the Upper Silesian Industrial District bypass (DW911) and is 1.5 km from the A1 motorway, while the nearest junction to the A4 motorway is 17.5 km away. Currently a 27,800 sqm warehouse building is also under construction in the Hillwood Gliwice Sośnica centre, which will eventually have over 81,000 sqm. The Gliwice Sośnica junction where the A4 and A1 motorways intersect lies 1.5 km from the centre. Hillwood Mysłowice is a warehouse and logistics project with a total area of approx. 24,000 sqm and is situated 2 km from the Mysłowice junction of the A4 and 5.3 km from the Brzęczkowice junction, where the motorway also connects with the S1 expressway. Hillwood is a US based developer that also has operations in Canada and Europe. In its five years of operations in Poland the company has developed over 1 mln sqm of industrial space and it now has plans to develop a further 2 mln sqm.
