Industrial production sees solid rise
Industrial production in March 2022 was 17.3 pct up on the same month of the previous year according to the latest figures from Statistics Poland.
Month on month, this year's figures for March were up by 18.2 pct. According to preliminary figures, in 31 out of 34 industrial categories fixed costs rose.
Such price rises were encountered in machine repair, maintenance and installation (44.5 pct), coal mining (35.5 pct), metalworking (29.2 pct), oil refining and coke production (25.4 pct), metal smelting (24.9 pct), woodworking as well as straw, cork and wickerwork (24.7 pct), chemical production (21.9 pct), and machines and equipment (17.8 pct). In three categories industrial production fell: automotive and trailer production (12.7 pct), and electrical equipment (5.7 pct).
Year on year the largest growth was seen in the energy industry (57.3 pct). To a lesser extent production also rose for intermediate goods (15.3 pct), perishable consumer goods (11.8 pct), non-perishable consumer goods (7.9 pct) and capital goods (5.9 pct)
Over the January-March period of this year, industrial production was 16.7 pct higher than in the same period of 2021 when growth was recorded at 7.8 pct.
