InPost becomes one of Poland’s largest tenants
Postal courier company InPost claims that in 2019, it leased a total of 107,950 sqm of warehouse space, which the company states was around 4% of the net space leased throughout the country over the period. With 57,863 sqm handed over for use, InPost in 2019 was also one of the leading postal courier companies in Poland and the company also claims that last year it was one of the top three most active e-commerce logistics firms in the country, beaten only by Amazon and Zalando. Moreover, the company now has leases signed for a further 158,000 sqm that will have been delivered by the end of 2021, according to Inpost data. This includes space in cities such as Warsaw, Poznań, Gdańsk, Lublin, Kraków Toruń and Kielce as well as many other locations. The company has also recently expanded its services into fulfilment centre services, which it now offers to its clients and this has further increased the company’s appetite for warehouse space. Poland’s  e-commerce market is worth PLN 50 bln, a figure that is expected to grow to PLN 70 bln by the end of the year. According to a recent survey published by Kantar TNS, InPost’s outdoor parcel lockers are the most common way of delivering online purchases in Poland, being more popular than direct courier deliveries to the home or work.  As many as 80% of those surveyed chose to pick up their shopping in this way. InPost, which has been operating on the market since 2006,  is one of the largest courier and logistics operators in Poland.
