InPost to occupy eight new warehouse buildings
Owner of the Paczkomat chain of parcel lockers InPost has signed a lease with Panattoni for warehousing space in eight separate locations. This year, the developer will hand over eight new buildings with a total area of 75,000 sq m in Wrocław, Poznań Kalisz, Siedlce, Szczecin, Rzeszów and Wałbrzych as well as near Warsaw in the town of Radzymin. Prior to this agreement, InPost had already signed leases with Panattoni for a total area of over 325,000 sq m. InPost has been operating since 2006 and was the first company in Poland to create a chain of 24-hour, self-service parcel pick-up points. Since that time the company has grown rapidly and, in 2020, the number of parcels the company handles rose by 115 pct on the previous year to 310 million while, across Poland, the number of Paczkomat parcel locker installations increased by 78 pct to almost 1.5 million. Last year, InPost rolled out a touchless system for picking up parcels as well as a returns system that does not require labels. The company’s InPost Mobile app has now been downloaded by over 6 million people. So far, Panattoni has built around 3.3 million sq m of warehouse space for e-commerce operators, which makes up around 30 pct of the total space it has delivered.
