MAN extends Niepołomice factory
Production is to rise to 300 vehicles and 200 truck cabins in the MAN Truck & Bus factory in the town of Niepołomice near Kraków. Around EUR 95 mln is being invested with assistance from the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) as well as the Special Economic Zone in Niepołomice. A letter of intent has already been signed and the extended factory is expected to reach full capacity in September 2022.
Eventually, 2,500 people are to be employed including on the production lines and in administrative roles. The factory is to operate on three shifts and MAN is to produce all of its current models including both light and heavy goods vehicles. The factory is also to include a centre for modifying trucks and fitting out cabins. The factory is intended to play a crucial role in introducing new technology to the market including IT developments, electric vehicles and driverless systems.
The MAN truck factory in Niepołomice first opened in 2007. Up till now the production facility has produced heavy goods vehicles both for Europe and the rest of the world. By the end of 2020, the factory had produced over 171,000 vehicles and chassis. The Special Economic Zone in Niepołomice is home to 26 businesses and tax benefits have been granted to 47 projects.
