Panattoni raises its ecological development standards
Warehouse developer Panattoni has announced that all of its new buildings are to be certified under BREEAM New Construction 2016 with a minimum rating of 'Excellent'. Previously, the developer used to certify its buildings with a rating of 'Very Good'. Now all new buildings will have to achieve a grade of 70 pct across all ten assessment categories, which is 15 pp more than is required for a rating of 'Very Good' The developer also intends to undertake a number of additional steps during the development process to lower carbon dioxide emissions with every project now to undergo a life cycle assessment study. The developer has also undertaken to implement additional steps to limit the use of potable water. This is to be done through advanced leak detection systems, watertight fittings, rainwater installations as well as further plantings of native species that do not require additional watering. The developer's first BREEAM certificate for a new development with a rating of 'Excellent' was awarded in April 2021. In Panattoni Park Sosnowiec I, the company managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46 pct compared to base values, while water usage was reduced by 65.5 pct. Currently, the developer has a number of other developments submitted for BREEAM certification with a total combined area of 500,000 sq m. These developments include Panattoni Park Zgorzelec, Park Wrocław S8 South, Panattoni Park Poznań West Gate, Wrocław Campus 39 and Panattoni Park Siedlce.
