Panattoni receives highest BREEAM accolade for Sosnowiec park
Panattoni Park Sosnowiec I has received a BREEAM International New Construction certificate with a rating of “Excellent”. It is the first newly constructed warehouse development in Poland to have been awarded such a high BREEAM rating. The centre was awarded full points in the category for land use and ecology as well as for water management. The centre was built on the site of a former mining excavation. For the development, a professional ecologist was consulted, who drew up a report on the exact state of the land examining the biodiversity and ecology of the site.On the basis of this report, the developer was able to bring back green areas to the land with around one-third of it now occupied by a flower meadow that includes a large array of species. Much of the remaining land is taken up by ecologically friendly grass lawns that require neither mowing nor watering. Panattoni received a grade of 90 pct for its energy usage and the centre is equipped with smart meters for its utility usage. It uses water-saving taps and a system to prevent leakages in the washrooms. The office section has adequate access to natural light and was also tested by a qualified acoustic engineer, to ensure that noise levels did not exceed norms. The developer has also ensured full access for the disabled and provided social areas for employees, recycling areas for waste, and electric vehicle charging stations.
