Panattoni to build DHL centre near Poznań
Panattoni is building a 105,000 sqm BTS centre for logistics operator DHL Supply Chain in the village of Żerniki near Poznań. The centre is to be used to handle the logistics operations of German online retailer Zalando, which operates in a number of European countries including Germany and Poland.
The construction work is already at an advanced stage and recently in the final week of May both companies celebrated the ceremonial topping off of the centre. The handover of the completed building is planned for August this year and its opening will result in the creation of 800 jobs. One of the advantages of the location is its proximity to the A2 motorway.
As well as warehouse space, the centre is to contain three floors of offices with a kitchen and a zone lit by natural light and held at a constant temperature. Separate entrances are planned for trucks and cars as well as bus bays including those for minibuses. Panattoni, DHL and Zalando all place a lot of importance on ecological issues. Last year Zalando introduced an ecological points system with which it rates all the brands sold on its site. DHL's stated goal is to reach zero emissions by 2050 and Panattoni is to strengthen the roof of the centre so that solar panels can be installed. The site will include a flowering meadow and insect hotels. Bushes and trees are to be planted by the entrance and the centre is to be submitted for BREEAM certification for a rating of 'Excellent'
