POLOmarket opens third logistics centre
POLOmarket’s newest logistics centre is now being stocked. The building in Swarożyn near the town of Tczew has around 30,000 sqm of floor space and comprises 369,000 cubic metres. Eventually it will supply around 150 stores and support POLOmarket’s other logistics centres, which are in Giebnia near the town of Pakość and Kłobucek. Around 250 people are to be employed in the new centre.
The building has been constructed as part of the 7R Park Tczew complex next to the Swarożyn junction where the A1 motorway intersects with national road 22. The centre has been designed to be ecologically sustainable with particular care spent on limiting energy use. The insulation of the walls and roof was selected to suit the separate temperature-controlled zones in the centre. The freezer/ refrigeration unit uses CO2 as a coolant with the same system also being used to heat water and the office section of the building. The lighting is automatically controlled by a smart DALI system and the forklift truck charging centre uses a queuing system to first recharge those batteries with the least remaining power, which both reduces the amount of equipment required and saves on energy.
The POLOmarket group is a Polish chain of just under 280 supermarkets with stores across the country. The group comprises numerous retail companies, which run the stores, as well as a logistics business. The chain first started operating in 1997 and its annual turnover has now grown to almost PLN 2.5 billion.
