Vast e-commerce centre certified with BREEAM ‘Excellent’
A 200,000 sq m warehouse building in Świebodzinie constructed by Panattoni for a major internet trading company has been awarded a BREEAM International New Construction certificate with a rating of 'Excellent'. For three of the certification categories, the centre was awarded a score of over 85 pct, which corresponds to a rating of 'Outstanding'. For management, the building scored 90 pct and for Waste and Energy, the building was awarded 86 pct and 92 pct respectively. Among the steps taken to safeguard the environment, the developer undertook a life-cycle cost study for the building covering a period of 60 years. The developer also monitored electricity and water usage during the construction work as well as CO2 emissions resulting from transportation. Numerous systems have also been installed in the building to reduce energy usage, including solar panels on the roof, an advanced building management system (BMS), an intelligent lighting system and energy-efficient elevators. Additional systems have been installed to save water, including a system to prevent leaks. Attention has also been paid to the building's lighting, thermal comfort and acoustics as well as access for those of advanced age and the less physically able. Other environmentally friendly systems include electric vehicle charging stations. The four-storey building in Świebodzin has recently been handed over and comprises almost 200,000 sq m of space, of which 13,000 sq m is for the social and office facilities. This is the developer's second building in Poland to receive a rating of 'Excellent' for a BREEAM International New Construction certificate with the first being the Panattoni Park Sosnowiec I distribution centre.
